This is going to be the first of many posts about the process that went into the making of The Marionette Unit as a graphic novel. Hopefully they'll provide some insight into road that has brought us here.
The script to the graphic novel first came to life as a short film script that I wrote about three years ago. When it came time to adapt this into a graphic novel script, it proved a fairly easy process as a film script is meant to be as visual as possible—a facet of the process that lends itself very well to the illustrated form!
One thing that I find important whilst writing the script, both in its film version then later as the graphic novel, is to choose a soundtrack that helps to guide the emotional journey I set out to create.
There was one piece of music that really helped to guide the final scene of the script (without giving away plot points for those who haven't read it, it involves a piano) and it's a particular track from the game Bioshock .
I'm a big fan of the game series and there's one track that if this was a scene in a film it would absolutely have to be this piece of music.
Have a listen here and let us know what you think and why not even play the track whilst reading the end of the graphic novel...! You can buy your Digital Edition right now by heading over to this link.
